Young(ish), friendly, talented and driven. Shayan has been extremely helpful during my onboarding process and we worked closely on the same projects. Shayan's main focus areas were: data science related projects, from automating the data analysis pipeline to developing custom algorithms to address customer needs or elevating our understanding of the underlying physiology of breathing. He has designed/helped design studies, protocols, bench tests, etc. Possibly, most importantly, he has developed a set of growth adjusted reference equations for Structured Light Plethysmography which will be extremely helpful for the end users and patients. Shayan would be an excellent asset to any team and I would wholeheartedly recommend employing him. All the best Shayan.

Having worked with Shayan for several years I found him to be friendly and professional in his role. He is very knowledgeable in his field and detailed in his work. Over the years he built up many contacts and relationships within the respiratory field and I wish him well in his future endeavours.

My general contribution has been in improving the precision and accuracy of Lein's confocal scanning systems through post data acquisition signal processing. More specifically, this involves identification of error sources through spectral and time-frequency analyses and eliminating them if possible. During my time at Lein I have: • Improved accuracy and precision of Lein's confocal devices (up to 30%) via signal processing • Familiarised myself with various topics on optics including: physics of optics, optical fibres, confocal microscopy and optics of the eye • Improved my proficiency in MATLAB and gained further experience in critical interpretation of results produced from the analyses • Gained further experience in image processing (e.g. eye alignment to a camera) and contributed in translating the relevant MATLAB codes into managed C++ codes. • Worked with and analysed both spatial (acquired using a magnetic encoder) and temporal data Working in Lein also made me a better team player; I learnt to communicate effectively with the team to ensure a desirable outcome.
