Reviews and evaluates unit maintenance capabilities, investigates systemic weapon systems failures, evaluates maintenance programs, reviews performance data, statistical information, makes recommendations, assists maintenance personnel with diagnostic troubleshooting procedures and makes preliminary checks to determine if problems are of a generally isolated nature or involve an entire suite of fielded systems. Recommends solutions, submits and prepares Equipment Improvement Recommendations (EIR) and prepares design change proposals. Advises unit, battalion, and brigade maintenance personnel from the standpoint of clarifying unit responsibilities and keeps field commanders apprised of the need to divert equipment maintenance to higher echelons such as field and sustainment support. LARs provide advice and assistance to field commanders, maintenance officers, maintenance technicians, and combat support personnel with maintenance advice, assistance, and training for the operation and maintenance of military materiel managed by TACOM LCMC.

      Work as a Heavy Diesel Instructor on the IMG Maxx Pro Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicle (MRAP). Provide training for US Army and US Air Force mechanics and operators, TACOM LARs, Field Service Representatives (FSR) and Red River Army Depot. Personnel on the characteristics, operation and maintenance of our vehicles. Teach Field Level maintenance mechanics on the operation of the Electronic Scan Tool (EST), such as the International Easy Tech and the MSD, for trouble shooting and advanced diagnostics. Monitor students during hands on performance exercises, verifying procedures are in accordance with training outline and school Sops. Teach proper operation of pneumatic tools and torque wrenches. Analyze training safety risks and develop controls to eliminate risk. Provide logistical support for student movement while in training. Conduct classes using power point, lecture and demonstrations in a class room and shop environment. Directly responsible for the accountability, special tools and basic initial issue of 9-Category 2 and 2- Category 1 IMG Maxx Pro vehicles.
