    • Coordinator/Instructor - Certified Administrative Assistant program
      • Aug 2009 - Jun 2019

I started out as a part-time evening instructor in 2007, teaching keyboarding and computer classes. I fell in love with teaching and found a job I want to do for the rest of my life! It is such a rewarding, exciting and fun career to watch my adult students learn and become successful. From 2009 to 2013, I was a full-time Coordinator/Instructor for the Computerized Office Technologies - Adult Education program at the Knox County Career Center. Areas of instruction included: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, Publisher, Manual Accounting, Quickbooks, Keyboarding, Desktop Publishing, Web Page Design, business skills, communication, customer service, professionalism, resumes, interviewing skills, job search, etc.I took over numerous responsibilities such as Coordinator for the Culinary program and Coordinator of our Short-Term evening programs. I am also a corporate trainer for employers by creating and teaching customized Microsoft Office training for them. In my spare time I am the webmaster for our KnoxTechnicalCenter.com website. In September 2018 Knox Technical Center developed a new program: Certified Administrative Assistant. I coordinate and teach critical and in-demand business skills, i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, Quickbooks, Google applications, digital literacy and customer service. On the first day of class I promise my adult students 3 things:1. They will learn a lot in my class.2. I will challenge them to do their very best.3. We will have fun during their educational journey.I prepare my students to pass their Microsoft Office Specialist certification in Word and they also have the ability to obtain approximately 30 other online certifications via Office Proficiency Assessment Certification (OPAC). Oh, and I make sure there is lots of chocolate in the lab during test days!

    • Staff Manager - Employee Development
      • Jul 1974 - Dec 2003

I held a series of positions in Mansfield, Ohio, starting out as a Public Relations secretary, Marketing, Sales Engineering, Graphic Design and Forms Management supervisor, and Carrier Services. I then relocated with Sprint to Gardner, Kansas as National Technical Assistance Center Engineer in December, 1998. My last (and favorite) position was at the Sprint World Headquarters in Overland Park, KS as a Staff Manager-Employee Development. Our team was responsible for corporate training support for 6 states, employee recognition, vice president's training budget, and culture change. We also helped employees realize they could have fun at work in the face of adversity (restructures, downsizing, etc.). I am very grateful for my experiences. Starting right out of high school, I literally "grew up" at United Telephone/Sprint. The best parts were the incredible, caring, hard-working supervisors, mentors, and coworkers I met along the way. They helped me become the person I am today in my new field. I will be forever grateful to them for blessing my life.
