During the spring semester of my freshman year, I was selected to participate in research in the cytogenetics lab at the Magee Women's Hospital under Dr. Svetlana Yatsenko. As a student researcher, my research focused primarily on how to improve the methods of diagnosis of multiple myeloma blood cancer. During my research experience, I had to understand complex diagnosis protocols and research medical databases and literature to figure out how to improve the detection methods of this cancer.
