Stewards Individual Placement Program (SIPP) provides individuals with national service-learning, education program and career opportunities to strengthen communities and preserve our natural resources. Participants work with federal agencies, tribal governments, and nonprofits building institutional capacity, developing community relationships, and supporting ecosystem health.SIPP in partnership with the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSMRE) are seeking an AmeriCorps intern to conduct GIS mapping and GIS database development of the Watershed Cooperative Agreement Projects (WCAP) projects across the state of West Virginia. Member may be part of field evaluations to assess the performance of WCAP projects constructed in West Virginia during the past 20 years. Collecting water samples, documenting observational findings on the systems' performance, and evaluating the need for maintenance may contribute to the analysis of the WCAP projects. This activity may require contacting project sponsors, locating and mapping the treatment systems in the field, and collecting and analyzing the available data. Show less
