Roderick Conwi
Shaundra Brown is a passionate and highly respected professional. As Coordinator of the African American Student Center, she helped support diversity programs at Cal Poly Pomona. One of her key roles was coordinating the Civil Rights Trip to the South, where Cal Poly Pomona students and staff would visit historic landmarks of the Civil Rights Movement, in which I was a student participant. She did an amazing job planning the trip, facilitating group positive group discussions, and supporting all of the students in their various needs.

Shaundra Brown was not only an excellent colleague to work with, but a great source for intellectual inspiration regarding ideas of cultural diversity, responsiveness, and sustainability. Shaundra is an effective leader, able to complete her tasks and evaluate best practices that improved how those tasks were completed. Furthermore, she was able to have dialogue with the staff she supervised to ensure a collective vision of a project, making sure that each member was accountable for the process and outcome of said project. She did all of this while establishing a sense of decorum of excellence, humility, and respect. Not only do I highly recommend Shaundra Brown as a colleague, but I jump at the opportunity to work with her again. More so, I consider Ms. Shaundra Brown a sister in arms towards building a just, equitable, and more rounded world, specially for those that have been historically marginalized.
