I managed the core development teams. These included a C++ team that dealt with hardware interaction and low-level communication; the core C# team which handled both desktop and server development; and the web team which utilized C#, ASP.NET MVC, and JavaScript to create intranet systems used in the financial industry.The core division handled the creation of new versions of the company framework in addition to custom solutions. Day-to-day activities included general development, architectural design, in conjunction with the division’s architect; team management; and mentorship.

I managed a small team which handled intranet applications for various financial institutions. These applications were generally document management systems used in cheque processing. These solutions relied heavily on client-server architecture and ran within corporate WANs.Duties included ensuring that the team met deliverables, as well as the overall architecture with regards to SOA and scalability. These systems required a high level of flexibility to allow integration with the company’s existing framework, 3rd party applications, operating systems, and devices. In addition to this, systems were required to be horizontally scalable.

I developed and maintained various banking systems which dealt with cheque processing. Many of these systems ran on intranets whilst others are standalone applications. Projects typically include JavaScript, C#, F#, VB6 (COM components), WPF / Silverlight, and HTML. Most legacy systems were written in VB6 but subsequent systems utilized .NET in order to boost performance by taking advantage of multithreading.
