In addition to my part-time role as Tenancy Support Officer I am also employed part-time as a Playworker in our Family Learning Group (Playing to Learn, Learning to Play) working with babies and children from 6 months to 5 years and covering the following themes; The Importance of Play, Literacy, and Numeracy. All learning outcomes are achieved through the medium of play; both free play and set activities including craft, cooking, stories, songs, and getting out and about. Some play activities include; physical play, quiet play, imaginative play and messy play.

Home-Start offer support and friendship for families. Primarily a home-visiting service supporting parents in their own homes with situations as diverse as isolation, bereavement, multiple illnesses, disability or those who are just finding parenting a struggle. Providing non-judgemental, practical and emotional support and help build the family's confidence and ability to cope. Home-Start Tenancy Support Service provides families with practical and emotional support and advice, in their own home, on all issues regarding the family's tenancy and includes:Applying for suitable housing Gaining a first tenancyManaging rent arrearsMaintaining an existing tenancyImproving home conditionsAccessing donated furnitureResettlement into a new communityReport outstanding housing repairs As a Home-Start employee I also have a responsibility towards organising an annual fundraising event. The event I am responsible for is the biggest one on our calendar; Family Fun Day. Not only does this event raise much needed funds for our services, it also raises our profile in the community.
