A Social Enterprise Advisor for Jobs & Business Glasgow, actively supporting a wide range of third sector organisations, developing sustainable income generation activities that support their mission. I work within a team across Glasgow and provide support to a wide range of existing organisations and also start-up, all who are looking to provide activities and services that deliver social impact. At this point in time I am working with a few different organisations to develop their business plan. This exercise is the most important and exciting in any new project as it helps the entrepreneur to hone their message as they conduct vital market research, cost the project and identify partners and investors. I am also working with a couple of other organisations to obtain a suitable legal status for their organisation that allows them to effectively deliver on their mission statement. My area of expertise in JBG is funding for which I develop a fortnightly funding update and distribute to our clients and stakeholders and generally anyone who requests this. I also run funding workshops, these discuss how to write an effective application and focus on 4 key areas of a funding application: Project planning - the activities Setting outcomes Evidencing Need Costing - the budget. Use of full cost recovery methods. Around 2 years ago I developed a start-up guide for aspiring Social Enterprises and as of 1st of April I shall be delivering workshops on this topic. This will discuss the following key areas: The concept Market research, mapping an area and consultation including methods such as feasibility studies. Management & governance Legal structures Financing and funding Marketing This is a very exciting role and a huge job but I can honestly say no two days are the same. I know, sounds corny!
