On completion of the amalgamation in 1994 of the then 14 pension payment and administration systems into one system. The various provinces implemented a "clean-up" process referred to as "Re-Registration. The purpose of the exercise was to clean up the static data on the system which was incomplete as well as, to ensure that each beneficiary had re-registered with the valid 13 digit RSA ID number.
