Board Member and Other Volunteer Roles

2017 - 2020
In one Board position I dealt with international financial matters such as real estate transactions, banking, as well as budget preparation and review. I researched various agency regulations with CRA. Strategic planning and Board development were also items addressed. In another volunteer role in the past I taught ESL and took a volunteer trip oversees to teach at an ESL family camp in Poland. I have also taught some adult small groups a variety of subjects in many roles. I was also on the Board for Snow Valley Ski Club. Furthermore, I have had many years of administration experience working with various children's programs in many organisations.

Over the past 20 years, I have been involved in senior level accounting roles including Director of Finance, HR and IT, and 15 years as Controller in various industries. Therefore, I have experience with IFRS, GAAP, ASPE and NFP accounting and many ERP systems. Breadth of my experience is up to $120 million in sales, or up to 430 staff & 40 locations. Strategic planning during an initial implementation as well as regular Executive reviews is a task I have experience completing. Oversight of complete finance teams, occasionally including other designated professionals, was integral to all of my roles. Preparation of financial reports including Executive and KPI's (bank, cash, working capital, quality, HR, inventory etc.) analyses were done on monthly, quarterly and annual bases. Budget and forecasts were built from the ground up and updated, in some cases, on a monthly schedule. Analysis of jobs using job costing, manufacturing financial reviews, customer margin preparation, multi-location budgets, property management contracts as well as grant reporting are things I have done. Consolidations, investment management and inter-company transactions have also been part of my duties in the past years. Reconciliations, government and other grant reporting and reviews of staff work are tasks I am familiar with. Some significant achievements include writing a grant proposal that helped secure a $500K grant from the Microsoft Corporation. Another was reducing AR over 60 days by 55% in 5 months. In a global organization, I initiated and implemented a template financial upload to SAP that was the first of its kind in North America. As part of regular risk management, I implemented a cash improvement plan that saved $250K over a critical time period. Finally, IT development, conversion and implementations of software, organisational improvements as well HR policies, oversight, and benefits have been managed in many of my roles.
