Working towards making Hampshire Constabulary the ‘employer of choice for BAME communities’ through targeted recruitment of those with the ‘skills to serve’, purposefully and deliberately designing programmes aimed at retention and progression of a diverse workforce. Representing over 180 officers and staff as their voice in the organisation, amongst the Chief Officer Group and the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner. Passionate about adopting an 'Institutionally Inclusive' approach to promote equality and tackling race discrimination and disproportionality in Policing.My achievements to date in this role are:• Successful planning, co-ordination, and delivery (20% under budget) of the first ‘BEAM – Reflection, Celebration, Vision – 20 years on…’ conference in 2019 with AC Neil Basu (highest ranked BAME officer in Policing), Professor Roger Graef, Gamal 'G' Turawa, Rachel Tuffin and Claudia Cox as keynote speakers and workshops facilitators• Through talent spotting, collaboration with women's network (Inspire) and mentoring; increased Female representation on 'Fast Track to Inspector' programme from 0 (previous 5 years) to 2 in 2020.• By encouraging an 'Inclusive by Design' approach to selection, achieved 23% BAME representation (2 years in a row) on a Potential Development Programme for police officers and staff.• Introduction of a BEAM SPOC (Single Point of Contact) role to support BAME officers and staff in the workplace during challenging/difficult times.• In collaboration with the force's Talent Manager, contributed to the creation of a progression development initiative for under represented groups called 'Advance Programme' and currently trialling a pilot scheme to increase BAME pass rate at the National Sergeants and Inspectors Promotion Exam.

As a participant on the Fast Track to Inspector programme, I performed the role of a Police Sergeant in several departments requiring flexibility, quick learning and adaptability to be most effective in the role and add value. These rotations have been an opportunity to understand the wider challenges of policing, experiencing the use of tactical options available to address complex issues and recognising/removing the barriers to the delivery of strategic intent of the organisation.My achievements to date on this programme are:• Paved the way for future Sergeants by completing a Work Based Assessment in Custody for the first time in Hampshire Constabulary.• Successfully led a team in our Professional Standards Department investigating internal Misconduct and Complaints against the Police.• Investigated matters overseen by the IOPC (Independent Office for Police Conduct) and achieved positive results in a timely manner whilst identifying and recommending organisational learning.• Trialled a ‘Workload Management Pilot Project’ in Local Policing to improve efficiency and effectiveness in a challenging and high demand/high harm environment, prevent burn out and enhance employee wellbeing and provide the best service to the most vulnerable in our sector/society.

As a Police Officer in a Criminal investigations Department (CID), I conducted investigations in to serious crimes within a very diverse and busy city. Having trained in Serious and Complex Crime Interviewing, I supported and interviewed vulnerable victims and witnesses and have enhanced skills in interviewing suspects. I collaborated with other partner agencies to safeguard victims. I engaged with the Crown Prosecution Service and provided detailed reports to influence their charging decisions. I represented the police force as the Officer in the Case at the Magistrate and Crown Courts. In addition, my achievements within this unit were:• Project initiation, stakeholder consultation, procurement, design and delivery of bespoke pilot workshops to improve efficiency of investigation handling and address the wellbeing of officers. • Project initiation, stakeholder consultation, concept design and delivery of a Digital Employee Welcome Pack for Southampton Central Police station. • Selected for ‘Firefly – A Change/Leadership Excellence Programme’ from over 20000 staff across Hampshire Fire, Hampshire Constabulary and Hampshire County Council.• Nationally selected for a ‘Study and Shadow’ opportunity offered by the College of Policing at Leicestershire Constabulary.• Interviewed by a local radio station about my role for ‘Behind the Badge’ - A community engagement initiative.

As a Police Officer responding to 999 emergency calls, I have been the first officer on scene at highly volatile and violent incidents including rape, sexual assaults, serious violent physical assaults, sudden deaths, vehicle collisions, drugs searches and seizures, burglaries and robberies. I made dynamic risk assessments during these incidents to ensure the safety of everyone involved, support, identify and safeguard victims and witnesses, gather and preserve evidence, identify and arrest suspects. I used the National Decision-Making Model to guide my thought process and utilise the conflict management skills to diffuse volatile situations. I proactively generated intelligence to support crime reduction and national security.In addition, my achievements within this unit were: • Planning, delivering and executing a successful crime reduction Operation by leading a team of 20 Police Officers and Sergeants whilst employing an innovative approach to engagement in the operation (including introduction of employee reward and recognition).• Being the voice and face of Hampshire Constabulary in an educational video about 'Body Worn Video and its effectiveness'used by over 2000 universities across USA and other parts of the world.• Initiating a Research project in collaboration with a leading academic to study the effectiveness of ‘Evidence Based Stop and Search Policing’ – A topical subject in the British media suggesting unfair racial profiling by Police.
