I worked with Sharan while managing the Workforce Career Office Center in Pasadena, TX. Sharan was always professional and had a unique way of helping our customers to open up. She always had a great smile waiting for them and treated them with dignity and respect. Sharan always had great counseling notes in our data base which reflected her great writing skills and creative thinking. I was able to put Sharan on special projects like working the job of the day and assisting with career office events. Shara was definitely an asset to our office and made a recognizable impact.

This was a temporary position of 6 months which lasted 4 years. My function was to better meet the needs of so many customers during a sluggish economy through a federally funded program. My function was matching unemployed workers to new jobs, and help alleviate other barriers to their future employment. The funding ran out when the economy improved, leading to my RIF. I am grateful for the ability to have helped people rediscover their confidence and talents. So much of an effective job search is simply the belief in oneself. Then it becomes an effort to make the most lasting impression among all the qualified candidates competing for the same job. Show less

As the HRD for a 314 room boutique hotel in downtown Houston, with 125 associates, I did recruitment/selection, benefits administration, training/development, coaching/counseling with staff and managers. I facilitated a hotel wide program to integrate the brand standards of the corporate management team into a living/breathing and continuous TQM process of guest/associate/community involvement on a local level. Initially, my function was to operate a licensed nursing home, directing the staff to care for the physical, emotional, and social needs of elderly residents. Ultimately, my function grew to a consulting capacity in which I assisted other facilities to regain their licenses, vendor status with the state. Helped them to maintain their function as contributors to the overall well being of the senior citizens entrusted to their care.
