The mission of Park Place Youth Emergency Shelter is to provide services to at-risk youth and their families, increase their functional levels, and reunify families whenever possible. As Program Director, I plan and execute all programming elements. This includes planning the calendar of events and speakers, working with community organizations and leaders to create partnerships and collaborate, leading life skill groups, leading peer support groups and leading groups based on evidence based models. Additionally, I oversee all grants for the program and complete reports. I manage upwards of 25 cases and provide direct care to all youthand families involved in programming by creating individualized service plans, connecting families to community resources and working with the family to ensure all goals are met within the time of youth being involved in programming. I also train and develop a team of peer mentors, youth advocate associates, and interns each quarter. We have seen many clients through graduation of high school and move on to college or career. As a site director, I manage the mission program of the camp organizing weekly groups averaging 400 students (ages 12-18) and their youth group leaders for the duration of the summer. I work with the community leaders in the city to understand the community needs to organize student volunteer groups to go above and beyond to meet the needs. I manage the logistics of lunches, transportation, and supplies needed in order to complete successful volunteer projects offsite.
