After working as the Annual Giving Manager, the opportunity came about to take on a larger roll in the annual giving department. In my current position, I am responsible for overseeing the majority of LAMCA's patron groups that support unrestricted funding. Curator's Circle (LACMA's largest patron group), Avant-Garde (our young patron group), and the direct marketing campaign, LACMA Fund - annually accounting for $1.5M+ in operating revenue. I also continue to manage a portfolio of donors with a giving capacity between $50,000 and $5M over a five year period. In addition to strategy, data analysis, and program direction, I also oversee the Manager of Annual Giving (my former position). I aim to support robust career development and skill growth with this employee.

      • Jul 2017 - Jan 2019

When I came on board with LACMA, we were in a period of transition (the membership and development departments had been recently merged). I oversaw the largest patron group at the museum, Curator's Circle, which represented more than $1 million in annual operations revenue. At the time, there was not an established system of donor stewardship which was one of my immediate efforts. I worked with curatorial departments to continue providing programming that satisfied the intellectual curiosity of the members, and managed a portfolio of more than 120 constituents. In the first year, I increased the revenue from my portfolio by over 40%. After my first year, I also took over managing LACMA Fund, the annual giving direct marketing appeal. This fund encompasses direct mail, email, social media, and onsite solicitations, and has a goal of $500,000 annually.

    • Associate Director at The UCLA Foundation
      • Apr 2016 - Jul 2017

After moving to Los Angeles, I continued my work in higher education at the UCLA Foundation. In this roll, I supported the Board of Directors, specifically the Nominations & Governance Committee, and the Philanthropy Committee. I coordinated with the Executive Director to oversee an amendment to the bylaws, a process that was so much more complex than I could have imagined, collated and managed the database of prospective new board members, and created the board packets presented at quarterly meetings. I also reviewed meeting recordings to create minutes that accurately reflected any an all motions, as well as including narrative to provide context for posterity. Additionally, I worked in close collaboration with the Executive Director and the COO to execute a gala where the Chancellor's Matching Gift initiative was announced (part of the Centennial Campaign). The event resulted in millions of dollars of new endowment commitments.

      • Sep 2014 - Apr 2016

As a recent graduate, I was thrilled to find a position with the Moody College of Communication. In this roll, I worked directly with the Assistant Dean of External Relations. I supported him with Advisory Council meetings and content creation, running the annual Friends of Moody College donor stewardship event, and spearheaded an exclusive event when the college celebrated the opening of a bridge connecting our two buildings across Dean Keaton Boulevard. I also supported a team of three major gift officers, and created reports, processed reimbursements, and conducted prospect research to support their work. Perhaps the biggest project I took on, however, was the annual endowment reporting. Through two cycles, I managed and executed reports to more than 50 endowment donors including updates on expenditures, and coordinating with faculty and student grant recipients to share stories of the successes made possible by these generous gifts.

    • Liberal Arts Student Development Associate
      • Mar 2013 - May 2014

In my final year of college, I was fortunate enough to work with the College of Liberal Arts. This position was my first real foray into departmental fundraising, and the inner workings of a major-gifts fundraising operation. The two fantastic Major Gift Officers I supported taught me about qualifying potential donors, and supported my work to finetune the stewardship process. I leveraged the phone skills I built in my previous position to make hundreds of calls with prospects to book meetings for the gift officers as they traveled across the country. In this position, I also learned a lot about Microsoft Excel, which has been truly priceless throughout my career.

I started as a caller, where I raised more than $160,000 through tele-fundraising. It was such a good fit, I was ultimately promoted to Student Supervisor. In that role, I helped coach other callers, oversaw the new hire training process, and helped set goals for various fundraising segments. I learned how to build reports for our client (UT Austin), and how to navigate the copious amounts of data associated with an annual giving department. This was my first experience in fundraising outside of the Annual Giving Call Center. My summer with the Annual Giving Office taught be the fundamentals of data hygiene, the values of prompt and impact based donor stewardship, and how to plan and execute a direct marketing campaign. It also helped me hone an eye for detail that was crucial when working on large mail merge projects. This was my first experience in fundraising outside of the Annual Giving Call Center.
