Bio
Daniel J. Franklin
I had the privilege of working closely with Shannon for nearly two and a half years at O’Melveny, and I am a better lawyer because of it. My first assignment with Shannon was to assist her and a team that was preparing for multiple summary judgment briefings. The case had been ongoing for years, and the learning curve was steep—especially for a then-new attorney like me. The projects were challenging, even daunting at times. But Shannon was the ideal supervising attorney, and her leadership guided me throughout. Shannon communicated her expectations clearly, and she regularly provided helpful feedback. She also took the time to provide in-depth responses to my (numerous) questions about substance, form, and procedure. In the years that followed, I continued to learn and grow as a lawyer through my work with Shannon. She is, of course, a stellar attorney with a broad range of experience that includes mass torts, coverage disputes, class actions, and labor & employment. But what I most appreciated as a junior associate was the time and effort she spent promoting my professional development. Working with Shannon was a wholly positive experience, and I continue to utilize and rely on the legal skills and knowledge that she helped me develop.
Samantha Brutlag
Shannon is an excellent and dedicated attorney with superb analytical skills. When I was a junior associate, we worked together on a complex litigation matter. Shannon not only supervised my work but took the time to mentor me and give constructive feedback. She taught me how to write persuasively and gave me both practical and high-level advice -- much of which has shaped me into the lawyer I am today. From a project management standpoint, Shannon is very tech-savvy and finds ways to use technology and other firm resources to streamline projects and organize large amounts of data and information. She cares deeply about her clients and cases and puts in whatever time is needed to ensure that her own legal work -- as well as that of the junior associates she is supervising -- meets or exceeds the high standards that clients expect. I give Shannon my highest recommendation.
