Before joining the program I struggled with investing time into myself. I have had a weight issue for decades and always thought about doing something but never took action. Everyone and everything was a priority over my health. Work, spouse, family, friends, and even my pet took 1st place. It finally got to a space that during COVID-19 my numbers for my cholesterol and sugars began to get worse. To top it off, stress at work was at an all time high. I ultimately was hurting myself mentally and emotionally by not setting healthy boundaries.It was a wake up call that if I continued on my path I was destined for life changing medical issues. Many in my family struggle with diabetes. I worked with Shaniece for 8 weeks, she helped me lose 24 lbs. I conquered my fears and self doubt. I tried things I had not done since I was a child, for example roller skating , riding a bike, running , and jumping rope. She provided the education I needed and was patient but also held me accountable. A few months prior to the start of the pandemic, I started a new fitness routine (once again). I worked with a trainer until the state shut down and then fortunately purchased a Peloton. For the next 17 months I became obsessed with cycling and lost 25 pounds. I cleaned up my diet but no matter what I did I could not drop the last 10-12 pds. I knew how important strength training was but I didn’t know how to incorporate in my life. I desperately needed guidance to help me with gaining strength and leaning out.
