Acute Neurosurgery and Hyperacute Neuro-rehab Experience:The Walton Centre is the only specialist hospital trust in the UK dedicated to neurology and neurosurgery. My key duties in this role include:• Responsible for patients with neurological and neurosurgical conditions across acute clinical settings including critical care, acute stepdown and neuro-rehabilitation wards.• Responsible for patients on our hyperacute neurorehabilitation ward, providing care to patients with highly complex rehabilitation needs. This 10-bed unit is one of four neuro-trauma hyper acute rehabilitation services in the country• Extensive experience in managing patients with complex enteral feeding needs, including acute enteral and parenteral feeding as well as longer term enteral feeding.• Extensive MDT working with various AHP's, rehab and discharge coordinators, gaining an understanding of regional process with regards to complex patient discharges into the community setting.• Responsibility as the dietetic representative for weekly Nutrition Specialist MDT, coordinating long-term enteral feeding assessments and referrals, as well as safe and timely discharge of patients on home enteral feeding.

Education and Clinical Training Experience:• Development of evidence-based patient information resources (i.e Ketogenic diet therapy in neuro-oncology).• Active in trust nutrition training for nursing and AHP staff and in the clinical supervision of student dietitians.• Development learning materials and case studies for the new Health Education England workstream project, aimed at extending online student placement capacity.• Clinical supervision of dietetic students during their clinical training.• Coordination of tutorial sessions for the Band 5 Dietitians in varied dietetic specialities.• Member of the interview panel for new dietetic assistants. This experience allowed me to gain insights into how dietetic teams identify suitable applicants for specific roles.• Development and delivery of a nutrition in surgery teaching session for FY1 doctors in the Trust.Audit and Service Development Experience:• Involved in multiple clinical audit projects to monitor and evaluate current practice within the department. My recent audit focussed on transition feeding between enteral and oral nutrition for ITU stepdown patients. Gerontology & Stroke Rehab Experience:This rotation was spent working at Broadgreen Hospital which specialises in Gerontology and Stroke rehabilitation, covering a Band 6 caseload as a Band 5 due to a vacancy in the service at the time.• Management of patients requiring long-term enteral feeding (NG/PEG).• Extensive MDT working with various AHP's, rehab and discharge coordinators, gaining an understanding of regional process with regards to complex patient discharges into the community setting.• Experience in areas of complex (ethical) feeding issues and regular attendance at the weekly feeding issues MDT in the Trust.Surgical Experience:This rotation was spread across surgical specialities, primarily colorectal, hepato-pancreato-biliary and vascular surgery.• Experience working with the Nutrition Specialist MDT and in the areas of complex enteral feeding, high output stoma management and total parenteral nutrition (TPN).• Development of Trust and patient resources on nutrition in intermittent bowel obstruction.• Extensive experience with HPB surgical patients including management and education of nutritional implications such as pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy and glycaemic control.• Coordination and completion of Abbott FreeGo enteral feeding pump training for the department to speed up enteral feeding discharges during the busy Covid period.Diabetes and Clinical Pharmacology Experience:This rotation covered general medical, diabetes, cardiology and Covid-19 wards, bringing a high-volume caseload in a widely varied patient group.• Development of specialist skills in the area including carbohydrate counting, insulin adjustment and the use of CGM technologies.• Extensive experience managing Covid-19 patients in the second and third waves of the pandemic.• Gained ICU experience during this rotation and as a member of the Covid-19 ICU support team in the department.• Management of a weekly nutrition support clinic
