Geraghty Energy Consultants is an independent energy and sustainability consultancy that provide a comprehensive range of building energy and environmental modelling services. Over the past 12 years, we have provided guidance to building designers and construction professionals which has enabled them to deal with everchanging regulations for sustainable designs, energy conservation and reduction in carbon emissions. Our core business is to provide our clients with practical sustainable solutions. This includes showing where energy savings can be made on existing buildings or developing strategies for new construction projects. Our extensive experience in conducting energy and environmental modelling and analysis, enables us to offer more practical and strategic advice throughout the projects’ lifecycle. This integrated approach has proven to be very effective, especially at inception stage when knowledge and experience are key to the success of the project. We believe that the goal of sustainability cannot be achieved without careful analysis of the commercial and practical needs of the whole building. This means that our services are both effective and cost-effective.The following services can be provided as part of a wider project or as an individual service:• Energy Performance Assessments for Compliance & Certification (NEAP/DEAP/BER/DEC) • Whole Building Energy Modelling for LEED Certification (ASHRAE 90.1)• Assessment of Thermal Loads for Plant Sizing• Solar Heat Gains Assessments for Part L and Optimal Shading• Overheating Risk Assessment of Naturally Ventilated Buildings• Right to Light and Daylight Assessments• Building Energy Audits (ASHRAE Level 1, 2 & 3)• Feasibility Assessments on Low to Zero Carbon Systems• Bid Support to help win TendersFur further information, visit our website at www.geraghtyec.ie

Like so many of my counterparts, I went to the United States on a J1 visa in 1998 and I worked with York International in York, Pennsylvania, for three months as an assistant service technician.I worked primarily in a large hospital and gained valuable experience from senior technicians and facility managers in the operation and maintenance of large scale air-conditioning and ventilation plant during a very hot summer.
