Paid for by the Department of Energy, graduate students of the IAC perform audit the billing and operations of manufacturing plants in PA, NY, and NJ. The goal is to find cost efficiencies using engineering measurements obtained from Gemba inspections throughout the plant. Recommendations will then be given on how to reduce the energy usage and how to initiate the changes. Upon completion, a certificate is awarded by the DOE. Employed through Allied Personnel Services, the position responsibilities follow ISO standardization for good documentation process and good manufacturing processes. The position is also responsible for visual, physical, and dimensional testing samples of product based on the set procedural plan from the industrial engineers. When defect and failures occur, follow the quality assurance procedures and the stand operational practice documents to move forward with correcting the issues at hand.
