Operations Control Center Implementation Lead - WestJet Encore

In April of 2012 I volunteered to assist WestJet with the development of "Encore". I was one of the initial 6 team members selected that was responsible for obtaining the Airline Operating Certificate from Transport Canada, and ultimately launching the airline in June 2013. I was one of the initial 6 team members selected that was responsible for obtaining the Airline Operating Certificate from Transport Canada, and ultimately launching the airline in June 2013. From May 2012 to August 2013, I was delegated the responsible for the implementation of the WestJet Encore Operations Control Center. I am very proud to have been on this small, and elite team of highly skilled and dedicated individuals. I am delighted that I had the opportunity to not only lead the development of the WestJet Dispatch department back in 1998, but Create the "Encore" Operations Control Centre in 2013 as well.

Chief Duty Dispatcher

From July 2010 to May 2012 present I held a front line leadership position within the WestJet Operations Control Center as a Chief Duty Dispatcher. This role required me to be the focal point regarding any dispatch or technical flight operational issues or questions that may arise from other departments. I was expected to provide guidance and leadership to the dispatchers and load planners working on shift and I acted as the main point of contact for any questions or concerns they may have… Show more From July 2010 to May 2012 present I held a front line leadership position within the WestJet Operations Control Center as a Chief Duty Dispatcher. This role required me to be the focal point regarding any dispatch or technical flight operational issues or questions that may arise from other departments. I was expected to provide guidance and leadership to the dispatchers and load planners working on shift and I acted as the main point of contact for any questions or concerns they may have while performing their duties. As an acting chief duty dispatcher, I was also responsible to coordinate WestJet operations with external agencies such as air traffic control and the local airport authorities. I spent much of my time on shift liaising with other departments within OCC and the company such as crew scheduling, guest solutions, commercial operations and maintenance control.

I also created, implemented and provided all instruction for the flight dispatcher initial and recurrent training program. In addition, I acted as WestJet’s government approved Transport Canada approved company “check dispatcher”.
