I had the pleasure of working directly with Shalini during her traineeship at Claro Partners. During that time, Shalini was a key team member to the project I was leading in which she demonstrated a professional and hard-working attitude. Her responsibilities varied from big picture identification of retail trends to the detailed designing of field research guides and activities. Her ability to efficiently alternate between broad and specific exploration, balance business and creative thinking and deliver tasks on time was a crucial contribution to the project’s overall progress. Shalini is reliable, dedicated and a consistently pleasant team player who is able to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams. I highly recommend her for any endeavor she chooses to pursue.

Shalini is very methodical in her approach to a project and was very easy to work with. We worked together on both print and interactive projects; and she also dealt with our team directly. Working on a monthly publication meant occasionally dealing with un-forseen circumstances either on the editorial, design or the production side. Through any of this, Shalini always kept her cool and was encouraging throughout, which was very reassuring for the team and kept them focused on the task at hand. I think she'll be a great addition to any team or project with her professional approach and effervescent personality.

Using techniques from social science, business and design I connect and co-create with users to uncover opportunities for business innovation. 1. Drinkfinity (PepsiCo) & Firma – Amsterdam, Berlin, London PepsiCo is scheduled to launch to a new drink infusion system called Drinkfinity in Europe in 2018. As the project lead, I conducted interviews/focus groups with over 120 participants in 80 sessions over 5 months. We tested the overall concept, pricing, tasting, product handling, branding material (videos, packaging), positiong, pricing, partnerships and the business model. Impact: Direct impact on Drinkfinity’s overall EU market entry strategy, branding and business model. 2. Kavehome (Retail Innovation + Service Safari) & Firma - Barcelona, London and Amsterdam This Spanish furniture company that wanted to extend their online experience to a physical store. I collaborated with their branding agency to study retail trends and lead service safari’s across 6 stores across Europe focussed on use of space, service touch-points and the overall in-store customer journey. Impact: This fed into the concept store, an enjoyable user experience and is currently being constructed. 3. Fashioneers (Fashion-tech accelerator Program) - Barcelona As a part of their 12-week program in Barcelona in 2017, they hosted 13 start-ups of which the top 3 were eligible for funding. I developed a business model and process innovation module which I delivered as a workshop and mentored the start ups. 4. Sabanci University – Assessment & strategy for student support services - Istanbul Served as a mentor and facilitator through the design thinking process to redesign the structure and student services. 5. CEMS Global Alliance in Management Education & NOYO - Vienna Developed and delivered a workshop on identifying challenges and opportunities in the student and alumni journey. Show less

Worked in a multinational team of designers and anthropologists on a customer experience journey project for a leading US-based automotive manufacturer. The project involved mapping of the customer journey (through primary and secondary research) from purchase to ownership in order to identify pain-points, delights and opportunity areas to enhance the existing customer experience. Shalini was also responsible for a part of the final client deliverable, which involved researching and drawing insights about shifting consumer behaviors and expectations shaped by the new role of technology in our daily lives. While supporting the findings with benchmark innovative experiences across industries. Her work was well received by the client and the research was published on Claros blog and professional networks. Apart from the project, she helped created a marketing strategy (to showcase the work done on a financial research project) with the objective of developing more business opportunities. She was a part of the team that organised an internet of things (IoT) workshop for students and entrepreneurs at 4YFN, Mobile World Congress. Show less

Business Design Intern
-
Jun 2013 - Aug 2013
As the Business Design intern at Smart Design, I worked with cross-functional teams in the New York and Barcelona offices. I worked closely with the business development manager, researching industries, potential clients and developing proposals. One such proposal to a large Scandinavian cable operator was won and manifested into a project in which I was a part of the core project delivery team for phase 1 of the project. The scope was a research project that defined what would make the clients' set-up box a successful product today and tomorrow while delivering a strategy, recommendation and vision. I was responsible for business research, a thorough competitor analysis (business model, key features, pricing, positioning) identifying key trends in technological innovation and their impact on user behaviour. I also helped identify and connect with experts, hackers and businesses for primary research. Bringing a business and user perspective to the insight generation process, resulted in mapping the customer journey, identifying need and specifications for a functional prototype for the client.
