I was given daily assignments, technology review and projects to implement. The task given is more to research and development (R&D) in the wastewater treatment process. I was given 4 major projects throughout my industrial training. My first project was, Composting using Sewage Sludge. The main purpose of this project is to convert the commercial value of sewage waste into valuable fertilizer through compost process. This experiment was conducted for a month and sample analysis was done to see the effectiveness of the compost process to convert sewage waste into fertilizer. The second project was to determine the effectiveness of Kenaf tree growth using fertilizer produced with sewage waste through composting process and commercial fertilizer. The Kenaf tree has many good values that can be commercialized. The purpose of this experiment was to see the efficiency of fertilizer produced through sewage sludge on the growth of Kenaf trees. The third project was, the identification and isolation of bacteria from biostimulants. Indah water is working on its own biostimulant products to be commercialized into the Malaysian market. The analysis was done to know the content of biostmulants produced by companies either locally or abroad. The fourth project was baseline study for the ‘Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR)’ system. The baseline study was to determine the benchmark for Extended Aeration (EA) system data. When data from the EA system is obtained, the data will be compared with the MBBR system data obtained to determine the efficiency of the MBBR system.
