I currently work at Redthread based at Kings college hospital. This role involved lone working whereby I led and shaped the Kings Adolescent Outreach Service. I supported young people aged 13 -25 with acute/chronic illnesses. I liaised with medical teams and safeguarding teams. I supported young people by advocating on their behalf, scaffolding them on to support services and addressing and challenging systemic issues e.g adultification, health inequalities. I also delivered youth work training to clinicians. Manage my own case load, prioritise risk and tailor my interventions and approach to best support the young people’s needs. This work continued into the community and included community visits, multi agency meetings and professional meetings. Many different teams within the hospital shadowed me to learn from my engagement with young people including camhs, phsychiatry liaison service and student social workers. Show less

Hackney Clinical Service: I worked in the Surge team from January 2022 to December 2022. I worked systemically and used genograms to discuss the young people and their families. The surge team sat in between social care and camhs and worked with high risk young people that were at risk of going into a tier 4 mental health setting or was coming out. I supported the young people I worked with by bridging the gap in communication with the professional network and initiating professional network meetings to ensure advocacy and supports in place. I supported these young people by using active listening skills, encouraging them back into their communities and accessing support services. I tailored my one to one sessions in order to meet the young people’s individual needs and to ensure better outcomes. Show less

I volunteered, undertook and led on a Liaison and Diversion project on Saturdays which was designed to collate young people’s feedback about different services including the Hackney Clinical Service, CAMHS, Social Care, the Criminal Justice system and education system. The young people that took part in this project were the ‘hard to reach’ young people and presented with undiagnosed and untreated trauma. As a result of this project, the young people’s contributions have been very powerful and impactful for the professionals and has instigated a rethink of practice across the Hackney Children and Families Service. This role began when I undertook my work experience with the organisation and was then offered a permanent role as a nursery assistant. I worked with 6 months - 2 years and 2 - 4 year old but supported the majority of time with 2-4 year old rooms.
