I have recently started to work for Catalan Soccer as an Assistant Coach for younger children learning to play football. During my time here, I’ve adapted and developed my communication skills to suit different age groups - to the kids, but also to their parents, plus my colleagues. As an assistant coach, I help make sure the sessions run smoothly, setting up the pitches and interacting with the kids to make sure they have a good time. This is by far my favourite job as it involves multiple things I enjoy, such as sports, working with kids etc. This also further develops my skills in working as a team since you are never working alone in a job like this.

Over the past 2 summers (2018, 2019), I have been an NCS mentor. This is similar to my current job working for Catalan, as NCS requires you to help support and nourish the skills and confidence of 15-16 year olds, only difference being that NCS is of an older age group. The main role for being a mentor is to guide your group into building their confidence and getting them out of their comfort zone. Push them to reach their potentials, and supporting them whilst they do so. They will also learn about topics for their future, e.g. university, taxes, bills etc and learn new skills to help them shape how they do things, such as budgeting. Despite it being a handful - trying to look after 16 younger people with a new experience everyday for 4 weeks, it is such a rewarding job to watch them grow and be proud of themselves for doing things they never thought they could.

    • Relief Cleaner
      • Sep 2016 - Oct 2017

After school for a year during my A-Level studies, I was a relief cleaner for my secondary school. Each of us were assigned to a department within the school (e.g. maths department, English department etc) to clean. This mean wiping down tables in classrooms, putting the chairs on the tables, sweeping up the floor and clearing out and replacing the bins. This allowed me to become independent and critical when it comes to making sure that the classroom/department is presentable for the next school day.

    • KS3 Maths & English Tutor
      • Apr 2017 - May 2017

For a temporary contract, I was a KS3 Maths & English tutor, helping Year 7’s - Year 8’s in my secondary school improve their maths and English skills. This took place once a week on a Saturday for a month. Skill set included is very similar to Catalan and NCS as, once again, it’s working with younger people to help them grow and improve their skills.
