From a conveyancing perspective, I am fully versed with the process of residential sales, purchases, transfers of equity and remortgages. Throughout the course of my role, I have obtained all the initial documents necessary to facilitate a transaction as well as drafted/completed numerous documents such as, contracts, transfer documents, notices, deed of covenant, certificate of title, all land Registry forms and stamp duty returns. I regularly communicate with estate agents and clients and assist in raising and answering enquiries. I am also able to independently handle all necessary matters post exchange, completion and post completion. My time spent on fee earners’ cases in the private client department has been the most extensive in terms of workload. I am able to draft simple to fairly complex wills for individuals and mirror wills, in addition to executing them with the respective client. I am fluent with taking instructions from clients in respect of lasting powers of Attorney and can action this independently. I have assisted fee earners on probate files from start to finish and have been given the responsibility of handling particular aspects of the case independently such as; drafting first letters to financial institutions, drafting IHT forms including IHT400, drafting oaths for executors, completing r185 certificates, arranging s.27 notices, handling the marketing and sale of any property, completing closure forms and handling the sale/transfer of shareholdings. I have since built up my own case load, with some estates having a high net worth.I assisted a partner in the family department with a number of divorce and financial dispute resolution matters. This includes drafting statements for counsel, organising bundles and drafting forms D8 and supporting forms, D36, form A and form E. I have also sat in with clients and built rapport with them, resulting in them coming back to us to assist them with other legal matters.
