“Regulation of the cell cycle and DNA damage response in neural crest stem cells” I studied how proliferation and DNA damage impact neural crest migration. It is a collaborative research project funded by the State Scholarships Foundation in Greece (IKY). While putting results together, I also acquired teaching experience under the ESPA program, offering optional courses in science communication and evolutionary developmental biology for final-year Biology students. “Regulation of the cell cycle and DNA damage response in neural crest stem cells” I studied how proliferation and DNA damage impact neural crest migration. “GSK-3 signalling in neural crest development” We discovered a novel role for a specific activated form of GSK-3 at the time of neural crest migration and we provided new insights into the role of GSK-3 in neural crest-derived tumours (neuroblastoma). We also developed an accessible approach to analyse neural crest migration in vitro, enabling the manipulation of protein function using small molecules. During this time, I chaired two prestigious Gordon Seminars for postdocs held in Italy and the USA and participated in National and International Conferences in various locations worldwide. In addition, I supervised and mentored undergraduate and graduate students from different science backgrounds and nationalities. Show less

Technical Product Development Senior Purification Technician
-
Jan 2005 - Sep 2007
My primary role was to purify antigens and antibodies using various chromatography techniques and analyse purified proteins (SEC-MALLS, HPLC, SDS-PAGE, WB). I was actively involved in implementing purification cost improvement projects and performing non-conformance investigations. I was responsible for validating production plans and associated reports, and for updating and rewriting production documentation. Finally, I trained new team members on technical equipment, manufacturing procedures, health and safety. I was assigned as deputy fire chief for our department. Show less
