The responsibility of a sales and customer service assistant not only entails communication skills but also time-management and leadership control. During my time at The Range, my main responsibility was to supervise in a position of authority, my fellow colleagues on the tills as well as undertaking the task of authorising returns and exchanges. My role also included attending to customer enquiries regarding products and services. At times, there were several tasks to attend to which enabled me to present my leadership skills, therefore posing as an advantage for future roles in similar fields as well as the wider opportunities. This experience proved to be a more hands-on role, whereby I assisted customers around the showroom and answered any questions regarding the vehicles. My role did also entailed face to face communication as a first point of call at the reception desk. It allowed me to develop my interpersonal skills through a variety of communication methods. My role at Skoda allowed me to undertake first hand communication experience with customers as well as fellow employees. Being the first point of call for customers whether it be face to face or via the telephone, I was able to advise and assist them with their enquiries and allow me to experience different situations alongside the possible ways of dealing with them. The year placement at Volumatic allowed to recognise a variety of interpersonal skills, which not only helped me in this job but would also help for future opportunities that I will undertake. I did not only experience the shop floor side of the business, but also had the opportunities to go and join other departments within the company such as IT, Sales, as well as the Research and Development department. Being able to experience a variety of different departments allowed me to incorporate my knowledge of business through tasks of conducting excel spreadsheets for the sales team. This included allocating and identify the different companies Volumatic were connected with around the world. I also felt a part of the team in each department as I always had something to contribute to allowing me to fully experience a work place environment and gain knowledge in a variety of aspects.
