I am a co-founder of RebLaw Scotland – a movement promoting law as a tool for social justice. Building upon the 'rebellious lawyering' tradition of Prof. Jerry Lopez and the annual Yale Reb Law conference, RebLaw Scotland held our inaugural conference in partnership with the University of Glasgow in November 2017. Our second conference was held in February 2019. I am a co-founder of RebLaw Scotland – a movement promoting law as a tool for social justice. As a law centre solicitor I specialised in working with ethnic minority communities, particularly in relation to immigration, asylum, discrimination and human rights law. In addition to serving our Glasgow client base, I was the solicitor for our Highlands outreach project, which required conducting legal advice surgeries in Inverness to service the needs of rural communities. Rural communities are often legal advice deserts, particularly in terms of human rights lawyers, and I worked closely with the Civil Legal Assistance Office and Citizens Advice Bureau to provide legal advice to some of Scotland’s most vulnerable people.

During my traineeship I completed seats in Litigation, Private Client and Real Estate. During my litigation seat, I assisted on both Sheriff Court and Court of Session actions. I independently managed a significant caseload, drafting pleadings, conducting research, reviewing evidence and liaising with clients and Counsel directly. I also provided assistance to our Pro Bono and Public International Law teams. This included exploring strategic litigation options for victims of torture and researching the rights of detainees in immigration detention centres for a European NGO.
