Seid is a dynamic and committed leader who has served as imagine1day’s Country Director in Ethiopia’s education sector since Lululemon Athletica founders Chip and Shannon Wilson established the international non-profit organization in 2007. Over the past ten years I have had the good fortune to observe and work closely with Dr. Mohammed both in the U.S. and Ethiopia while serving as a Board Member for the imagine1day USA Foundation in providing access to quality education in the most marginalized communities of Ethiopia. During this time, I have experienced the many contributions Dr. Mohammed has made to his country, and witnessed his keen ability to develop and cultivate relationships with cross cultural teams that include donors, local governments, rural communities, NGOs, U.N Agencies and other international emergency response and development actors in the Ethiopian context. The overall success and impact of the imagine1day organization is a direct result of Mr. Aman’s strong leadership, dedication and passion for his work. The organization currently partners with over 500 schools, in three regions and 10 districts located in the most remote and marginalized areas of Ethiopia. Over the past 13 years Dr. Aman has developed, lead the implementation, and scaled an innovative and effective education model, which to date has transformed the lives of over 265,000 Ethiopian children and adults in one of the poorest nations in the world. Between 2014 and 2018, Seid was responsible for securing a sizeable multimillion-dollar grant agreement for imagine1day with the Qatar based Education Above All (EAA)’s Educate a Child (EAC) programme, and implemented innovative community-based education project that enrolled and retained over 93,000 out school children in 363 remote communities. As a result, Ethiopia’s Ministry of Education as well as the country’s former president have acknowledged Seid’s contributions to Ethiopia and in 2015 and 2016, the imagine1day organization was awarded the distinction of being one of the top ten innovative NGO’s working in the country, and the only NGO recognized out of the ten from the education sector. Dr. Aman, has been able to broaden the donor base by raising millions of dollars to support organizational mission from organizations including UNICEF, Light for the World, Run for Water, Canada Embassy, Costa Foundation, and private sector. Dr. Aman together with his team designed sustainable programs that changed dependency syndrome mindset by actively engaging the communities and local government in their own development. Seid created an organization culture with a high level of integrity and transparency. Dr. Aman is a lifelong learner and recently earned his Global Executive Doctorate Degree from the University of Southern California Rossier School of Education as a way to further strengthen his leadership capacity and fulfill his education and career goals. Seid is one of the brightest most innovative leaders I have ever encountered. I have worked Seid in Ethiopia for the past 8 years and have learned so much from his style of leadership. Seid is a visionary who can inspire people in North American and in Ethiopia. He has been educated in the West gaining his PHD at USC but he chooses to work among the most vulnerable people on our planet empowering subsistence farmers and their families with access to education and clean water. His innovative ideas are transforming how aid and development is being done in Africa. I have learned so much from Seid and count him as one of my closest friends.

It was a $5 million GBP, five-years research program implemented through a consortium of Overseas Development Institute (ODI) of UK, IRC of Netherlands, WaterAid, and Addis Ababa University.
