Although wasn’t on the same department as Sebastián (or Sebi), I greatly enjoyed working with him. Even from afar, I saw he worked hard on bringing features to our own engine so that the game could look beautiful without impacting performance. He was always aware of what each member of the programming team was working on even if it wasn’t his responsibility, which made having him as scrum master on our last sprint a joy. But it is in the aspects we interacted that I would like to focus on. Communication in a big team is complicated, and Sebi was a key component on making it work. Whenever a misunderstanding occurred between coding and design or art, he was able to explain it so everyone could understand the possibilities and limitations of the systems. Aside from the words he might use, I believe one of the factors that makes talking to him so natural is his calmness. Whenever he has to explain something to a person who doesn’t understand much about the subject, he never treats them like they don’t know enough, rather he is respectful all the time and is able to send the message through much quicker for that. Finding a person that is able to work hard and care about others is difficult, but Sebi is just that person.
