The following areas and responsibilities were added to my portfolio in July 2012:• Provide leadership and strategic direction to 3 additional areas: College Studies program (credit-bearing courses coordinated in partnership with Behavioral and Social Sciences department), Learning Center (e.g. tutoring services, academic support, and academic skills development), and Testing Services. Supervision of one administrator (Director of Student Learning and Engagement); 13 professional staff; and over 100 faculty, professional, and student tutors.• Co-chair Achieving the Dream (ATD) initiative. Led efforts to investigate, secure institutional funding, and apply for participation in largest, national community college education reform network. Oakton was recently recognized with "Leader College" status within the network.• Research, train, implement, and manage early alert program that links students, faculty, and student success coaches (utilizing GradesFirst software). • Redesign college studies program to include educational planning, learning styles, embedding engagement experiences within curriculum, rubrics for assessing student learning outcomes, and faculty training and professional development on interactive teaching strategies.• Communicate and collaborate with academic Deans, Chairs, and Coordinators to ensure curricular vision is understood and supported. Partner with academic stakeholders to affirm an environment that supports student success.• Create and manage budgets totaling $3.5 million.

Director of Student Success

• Lead college-wide student success and retention efforts. Identify institutional definition of student success and student success measures. Coordinate comprehensive student success strategic plan focusing on new students, students in developmental courses, students on academic probation, students in gateway courses, and students nearing degree completion.• Provide leadership and strategic direction to 4 units: Advising Services (including Student Veteran Services), Career Services, TRIO (Student Support Services), and New Student Orientation. Administrative supervision of 27 professional staff and 1 graduate intern.• Lead the Division's assessment efforts. Identify, manage, and report on student learning, program outcomes, departmental effectiveness, and student success indicators associated with involvement and engagement in college services and programs.• Coordinate student success initiatives and interventions to provide seamless transitions for students and their continued success and progression through the College.• Create and manage budgets totaling $2.1 million.
