  Research on forming of thermoplastic composite laminates at high temperatures. Thermo-forming of fibre reinforced thermoplastic laminates is ideally suited for the production of thin shelled products with complex curvatures. Nevertheless, process induced defects such as local buckling and subsequent wrinkling appear frequently and disqualify the final product. Better anticipation on these defects result in lead-time reductions and can be achieved by predicting such defects in the early product design stages. Therefore, numerical prediction tools in combination with proper constitutive models are highly desirable. The developed models are validated with forming experiments. The results lead to the development of production and design guidelines for the processing of thermoplastic fibre reinforced laminates at high temperatures. Show less
