I worked under the Reservoir, Field Engineering & Technical Services department monitoring gas migration and surface casing vent flow. I spent the majority of the time in the field collecting data from remote wells, but I also went on gas plant and drilling rig tours which gave me an introduction to the upstream activities of the industry. I also helped out with the other teams doing vegetation assessments and borrow pit rehabilitation. Performed a variety of tasks while upgrading and maintaining forestry roads and highways. - Monitored and adjusted aggregate grain size, distribution, and composition to make sure road building materials remained within regulations. - Monitored road compaction with nuclear and electrical density gauges. - Measured road segments and indicated to drivers where to dump gravel. This job required me to work 10-hour days in the bush for up to months at a time with rare days off, while living at Forest Recreation sites in tents or at camps while cooking and cleaning. I gained knowledge of forestry road driving etiquette and have the ability to drive for long periods of time in marginal conditions. Show less
