The First Amendment was a 60's retro store and Grateful Dead supply shop. We had a cafe called the Happy Hippie and a tattoo shop for a short time. I built the retail business from the ground up starting with 50 dollars that i had in my pocket and the idea that came to me at a concert. I started as a single booth in a flea market called the American Flea and eventually bought all the booths around me. I ended up with 16 booths at the American Flea and decided to move to a retail location. The new location was 1500 square feet of old dry cleaning shop in the K-Mart plaza in central Fort Myers next to the Edison Mall. It was a great time and business was booming until Jerry Garcia died and we hit a slump. After a year or so of mourning the customers arrived again but now at our new location across from a booming night club called Pyramids at the time (it changed 3 times while i had the store). We ran for 3 years at the new location and made great memories until the end finally came in my choice to try something new in the arts.
