Sean expertise lie at the apex of linguistics, algorithmic engineering, and machine learning, a perfect combination of skills to push the boundaries of natural language processing. In fact, I would claim there are few that exceed his capability in any of these areas, and next to none at that center. His ability to foresee all grammatical variances and semantic meanings associated with the predicates at hand, for instance, allow him to generate an engineering strategy to maximize accuracy, all in his mind; it's a fascinating skill to witness exercised on a whiteboard. I had learned a great deal from Sean while working at Language Computer, and look forward to working with him again in the future. (Note: do not challenge him to Trivia!)

Sean is both a technical genius and one of the best managers I've ever had. Sean managed a team of ten engineers and scientists working on multiple projects, and he made sure we all had the resources and the support we needed. He also acted as a mentor to me, helping teach me a large amount of concepts that were new to me, relating to natural language processing, information extraction, and experimental analysis. Sean also performed a considerable amount of engineering work himself. He had an absolutely intuitive grasp on the codebase and on the technical concepts underpinning it. He was visibly on a completely different level than the rest of us. I'd work with him again in a heartbeat.
