It’s been a pleasure working with Sean for the past two years at SSE Inc. Sean’s ability to juggle multiple projects has been unlike any I’ve seen before and continues to make a dramatic difference in the productivity level of our team. With me being new to the field, Sean devoted his time to help mold me into the Quality Reviewer I am today and continues to help others entering the field gain the knowledge and experiences needed to accomplish the job. He also took it upon himself to create a continuity book for our team to ensure our team remains in adherence to technical style guides by applying and updating style guides for multiple audiences. His project management skills and his ability to meet deadlines during challenging times and disruptions within delivery cycle processes have been outstanding. I would recommend Sean to any company or team that would be looking for someone who enjoys a challenge and has a get-it-done mentality.

Having read much of Sean's writing, I can honestly say that it is polished, put together, and thoroughly professional. He writes and edits with an eye toward his audience, which is something that many authors forget nowadays, and which makes whatever he produces highly user friendly. Sean's commitment to quality and his results-oriented work ethic are apparent at every step.

    • Quality assurance technical writer and editor
      • Mar 2020 - May 2023

      • Supported Boeing Global Services by authoring XML-based documentation, writing illustration requests and software/business process how-to content, developing quality assurance processes, tracking/updating flight manual workflows, editing flight manuals, converting manuals to XML, and training other employees. • Wrote/edited/updated 180+ pages of software and business process how-to content, which became the unofficial guidebook to train new employees on how to do quality assurance technical writing and editing. Accomplished this by learning/staying current on software and business process updates, by monitoring what questions other team members had and using these questions to guide the writing process, and by continuously refining and simplifying content to make things as accurate and easy to understand as possible.• Collaborated with a mix of pilot subject matter experts (SMEs), loadmaster SMEs, and other quality assurance technical writers/editors to convert a 600+ paged multinational flight manual, which had failed delivery several years in a row due to quality issues, into XML form. Did this through a combination of careful line-by-line editing, debugging lots of XML-based issues, and clear communication with other team members.• Quickly learned how to use a complicated XML-based publishing system with limited instruction. Then, successfully trained everyone from pilots to English majors on how to use that same XML-based publishing system at high speeds and through a combination of one-to-one coaching over Skype video-sharing technology, creating how-to content/quizzes, and by generally monitoring what knowledge gaps less experienced team members were having in their learning journeys.• Was one of two employees that had to build a technical writing team, including training employees, evaluating who to hire next, defining processes, and so on, from a team of two up to seven. Later, coordinated that same interdisciplinary team, which was distributed across multiple countries and time zones, using a mix of email and phone.• Sharpened post-college writing/editing technique by analyzing 100,000s of words worth of editorial comments and corrections, essentially getting a world-class education for about the price of an iPhone.
