I had the opportunity of working with Sean on the Data Platform team at Pluralsight. Together we formed a small functional unit within the larger team, and built a metadata microservice together. He is an excellent software engineer who cares about good design and robust testing. His understanding of data-related concepts and system design is very impressive, and I found him to be a huge asset in designing our microservices in such a way as to be easily maintainable and reactive. He also picks up on new technologies quickly, and was able to start being productive almost immediately upon being hired. He was a big driver on the team for trainings and learning via book clubs and other means. I would wholeheartedly recommend Sean to any future employers.

Sean is an excellent contributor to our team. He cares deeply about his craft and makes good engineering decisions. He is active in his learning and stays informed of current trends and best practices. He has even recommended a few podcasts to me that have become a part of my own personal continuous-learning routine. He is also efficient in finishing projects and assignments. Many times I have been surprised at how fast he completes tasks while maintaining good quality. I'm happy to recommend Sean as a talented and capable engineer!

      - My Team is responsible for a new mission-critical microservice which handles all fiat money movements with various banking partners. - This is the first service fully decoupled from orgs monolith. - Pushed my team to write more testable/decoupled code (e.g., using Go's inferred interfaces) - Enabled true unit tests. - Pushed my team towards good microservice practices (separate DB instance for our service, hard service/domain boundaries, and assuming that if it can go wrong, it will go wrong, etc.) - Mentored other members of the team who were unfamiliar with some typical microservice patterns. - Led and worked on critical design tasks including: idempotency of payment processing, monitoring via Prometheus/Alert Manager, and how to gracefully handle failures. - Consistently pushed for automated error handling, rather than manual one-offs - Presented multiple times to the company-wide Golang group about effective code patterns my team and I established in our codebase to help improve Paxos as a whole. - Worked with our internal clients (other engineering teams) to establish an API that would be easy for them to use. - Worked on POC for exploring new Paxos-wide workflow orchestration platform (Temporal). Technologies: - Golang - Postgres - Prometheus/Alert Manager - ArgoCD - Kubernetes - Sentry Show less

I work on the Platform Stream Processing team. We are responsible for building and maintaining mission critical systems that enable the next generation of Adobe Analytics services. While at Adobe I've:- Improved the performance of streaming solution by 3x by refining metrics collection and removing unnecessary network hops.- Helped to design and implement splitting a service into I/O and CPU intensive operations for more efficient use of resources, and increasing the visibility, reliability, and throughput of our processing. - Led the design and implementation of new services to automate backfilling customer data into Adobe's newest suite of services. This was previously a painful manual task requiring Jira tickets and manual validation.- Developed a Golang cli for the automation of previously manual tasks in order to learn more about Go.- I try to push the envelope in what technologies we use, and how we can more effectively serve our customers.Technologies:- Kafka- Scala- Java- Docker- Kubernetes- Prometheus- Azure Storage Queues- MySQL Show less

I work on developing a unified streaming data platform. We have services that use RESTful APIs to handle ingestion of data and materializing the streams. I have been working on breaking out a metadata microservice to improve the scalability and reliability of the platform. This work includes design, implementation, and deployment to AWS via Terraform. We’ve also moved towards supporting Spark as a way to enhance our users' experience. Kafka is our data store to allow high throughput producers and consumers, fault tolerance, and availability. I have also automated routine maintenance tasks to improve team velocity, and to free us up for more interesting engineering problems.
