Student Helper and Advisor
-
Mar 2015 - Jul 2016
During my time working for Glasgow Caledonian University's Admissions and Enquiries Service, I was employed as a student helper. The role required current students of the university to help with prospective students with any enquiries they had about their incoming or future applications. My tasks would differ day-to-day, but my main responsibilities were answering inbound phone calls, making outbound phone calls to fellow university staff and students, answering e-mails to our Enquiries, Admissions, and Exchange inbox, reception work, meeting face-to-face with prospective students, filing, printing and matching, handling applications. One of the key roles was to meet face-to-face with future applicants and answer any of their questions regarding the application process to university. This gave a more personal approach to the application process and was the task I enjoyed most because there would be a new challenge every day that ultimately made me more confident in the role I was placed in. Our department also worked alongside the Exchange team, who would send students from the university to other universities around the world, so we would occasionally take on the responsibility of handling enquiries from current students looking to study abroad for a semester and European or International students doing their semester abroad at Glasgow Caledonian University. Retail Assistant

Nov 2014 - Dec 2014
I joined the Topman team during their busy Christmas period in 2014 as a member of their seasonal temporary staff. During the time that I worked there, my roles and responsibilities included greeting customers as they entered the store, shop floor assistance, stock room handling, sales, and promoting the Topman and Topshop mailing list to customers. This role helped me to improve on my customer service skills in a face-to-face capacity, as well as allowing me to transfer previously learned customer service skills into a retail role. Show less

Parent Contact Coordinator
-
May 2014 - Aug 2014
In 2014, I applied through the Camp America programme to gain employment that summer at one of the States' many youth camps. I gained employment at Camp Lincoln & Lake Hubert in Minnesota and was employed as the Parent Contact Coordinator. The role of the Parent Contact Coordinator was to act as the middle man between the parents and their child. I would work in the camp's office, where I would work through e-mail enquiries from parents and businesses affiliated with the camp, handling phone calls (both inbound and outbound) to parents, organise camp research with the kids to find what they were and weren't enjoying about the experience, compiling spreadsheets analysing the research for senior staff members, printing, filing, and creating camp letters with photographs to parents from their children. As a great deal of my role included interacting with young children, I was able to adapt my customer service skills in order to be more sensitive and patient with any problems they were having and act appropriately. Working with the camp's office staff allowed me to integrate well within the camp community, but it also allowed me to further develop skills that I already possessed including the ability to adapt to an ever changing environment, working under pressure, time management, and helped greatly with my social skills. As I was a staff member for a summer camp, I also undertook mandatory health and safety and first aid training, gaining a certificate in the process. Show less

Small Business Customer Adviser
-
Sep 2012 - May 2014
For over a year and a half, I was employed by telecommunication company EE's call centre in Greenock, Inverclyde. My role at EE originally started in September 2012 as a customer service adviser for the company's Apple software team. However, in August 2013, I retrained and moved to the small business team as a customer service adviser for customers using the network for their company, a role I stayed in until my departure from the company in May 2014. Both roles required me to answer inbound phone calls from customers and take any enquiries they may have. The most common enquiries that I would help customers with included: - Billing enquiries - Sales and upgrade enquiries - Technical support - Issues with signal and service - General complaints - Payments - Checking orders and making orders for replacement devices - Offering general advice As I was the first point of call for many customers, I provided a vital role to many customers. The role required a lot of patience and resilience, as some calls could be pretty unpleasant and difficult, but while there were days that were quite challenging, working at the contact centre was an incredibly rewarding job, as I gained a tremendous amount of invaluable skills that I have been able to transfer into my professional and personal life. From working at the contact centre, I gained the ability to be efficient on calls all while providing high quality customer service, strong communication skills, flexibility and sensitivity to deal with a wide variety of people, the ability to remain calm under pressure, and above all, excellent customer service skills. During my time working for EE, I received two awards for my excellent customer service attributes, which I was granted based on positive feedback from customers of the company that I had spoken to. Front of House Staff
-
Mar 2012 - Sep 2012
During my time with Domino's Pizza, I served as part of my local branch's front of house staff. A typical shift would involve me placing orders from customers either over the phone or in person, supplying customers with their orders, replenishing stock, and general cleaning and tidying of the shop. As the shop would be busy on a regular basis, I would sometimes need to assist with the cooking and preparation of food, due to the high amount of orders that would come through on certain nights. As such, this taught me the ability to be flexible within a working environment. Show less
