Formerly a close ally of President Emmanuell Rahmon of Tajikistan, he was arrested and prosecuted in a trial closed to the public. Ultimately, he was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment.On 14 December 2021, due to identified violations, the Working Group recommended his immediate release for violations of, inter alia, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.

  Advancing the responsibility of factory owners and government labour inspectors to comply with international human rights standards and International Labour Organization protections in the context of their business operations. This included promoting anti-modern slavery practices, steps to counter human trafficking, and other protections in the core human rights treaties. GRC has conducted human rights due diligence, produced human rights policy statements, crafted complaint mechanisms, assisted in amending government inspection documents for factories, and created standard operating procedures on human trafficking.

  In 2013, the European Union ('EU') deployed a training force to Mali to strength the capacity of the Malian Armed Forces. To address reports of violence against women, as well as other violations of international humanitarian law, the UK has deployed an expert from its Stabilisation Unit. The Stabilisation Unit is an entity within the UK Government that was set up to respond to complex challenges of fragile and conflict-affected states. The Unit reports to the Ministry of Defence, Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Department for International Development. The objective of the Trainer / Advisor is to address capacity deficiencies of the Malian Armed Forces to protect civilians against human rights violations through providing training services. Further, the advisory responsibilities include advising the Mission Commander or Training Camp Commander on various matters relating to international humanitarian law.
