Scott Milne was the republican nominee for a Vermont seat in the United States Senate in 2016. Milne spoke of the "deadly concoction of career politicians being propped up election after election with special interest money that is ruining our country", Milne ran an all volunteer campaign- led by his two children. Milne's total campaign spend was under $100,000. His opponent- Patrick Leahy- had a six million dollar war chest- with over 3 million from special interests. Patrick Leahy was re-elected to his 8th term.
