Undergraduate Research Fellow

I applied and was selected for a Furman University Undergraduate Research Fellowship studying the abundance, diversity and distribution of freshwater fishes in South Carolina with the River Basins Research Initiative and Furman Biology Department.Research consisted of data collection on streams in the Piedmont Region of northwestern SC. We collected fish and ecological data including measurements on: water chemistry, streambed sediment, riparian zone vegetation, geomorphology and land cover data. I then conducted data analysis in order to investigate which ecological factors played the largest role in structuring freshwater fish assemblages on small spatial scales.I will present my findings at Furman and the Annual Association of Southeastern Biologists Conference before I graduate in May 2019.
