I was a Senior Principal Engineer, working for Scott from 2011 to 2013. Since then I had moved into Development Engineering where our strong working relationship was continued. I always enjoyed working for and later working with Scott. He is very much a driven, big picture, thought leader. However, I was most impressed by the way he encouraged his team solidify and embrace that vision. He did so by enthusiastically inviting discussion, debate, and allow everyone to participate and collaborate in establishing the final attack plan. With this environment established, Scott encouraged us to do the same and present issues we uncovered and challenge the status quo. As an example, our team was able to examine our customer edge service offering and shrank its footprint in half, reduced our cost by a third, and we redesigned the method of implementation, which improved our time to market and resulted in a better customer experience. Scott led by example, and we were able to use this method often to improve the designs we implemented. Scott cared deeply about delivering strong value to his company and to its customers, but ensured the value was gained in a method that was in alignment with his staff’s success and wellbeing. When I worked for Scott, we operated in a fast paced, every changing environment. When Scott delegated work to me, we teamed together to make sure the customer needs were understood, my plan to address the need was well thought out and communicated, and finally he ensured that I had the resources needed to committed to the tasks at hand. I was set up to succeed; however, if the requirements changed, Scott would support me in resetting expectations to maintain good communication channels with the customer. This ultimately led to a successful project implementation. He understood that the greatest value was when all parties would benefit from the outcome. Scott has many skills and values in his toolkit that are important to someone in a management role. I believe his ability to influence and empathize towards others are two strong traits that will give Scott a good return on investment for years to come. I believe these unique capabilities bring a valuable perspective to any role he takes on and he would be a talented team addition in most any environment.

I had the privilege of working with Scott as a peer since 2011 as he led various engineering teams at Intelsat, and then in 2017, when he joined my Ecosystem team and was responsible for managing our Partner Teleports. In this capacity he did a fantastic job of bringing order to a complex set of processes; managing a $13 million budget and engineering over $1.5 million in annual savings; and in streamlining our partner relationships to extract the maximum value for our organization. Based on our years of working together, I have found Scott to be a highly capable leader who responds well to a challenge, easily adapts to change, and consistently seeks out opportunities to make a difference for the company and its customers. With every role, Scott always took the initiative to analyze and understand the needs, establish what was critical to maintain, and then implement any changes required to improve the situation. He was the driving force behind many innovative changes that resulted in: decreased costs, a shorter time to market, an improved professional image and/or an enhanced service offering. Scott is a true change agent. He is passionate about troubleshooting customer problems and crafting solutions that create strong financial upside for his employer while still fostering positive, long-term relationships with his clients. Scott brings a very unique mixture of technical, commercial and analytical skills to the table and I think he would make a great addition to any organization, especially one that requires help in managing through a technical or cultural transformation. I look forward to seeing what chapter comes next in his story.
