      • Apr 2021 - Present

As the Community Coordinator, I support students, teachers, families, and the public to develop our progressive and bilingual environment. As a member of the Leadership Team, I help managge many aspects of the school, from academics to HR. Further, I am the school-wide Inquiry guide and design and lead a course of student-driven, experiential learning for secondary-level students. I create learning environments that take critical thinking, community service learning, teamwork, leadership, collaboration, and all kinds of life skills, then roll them up into one class. As the Green School grows, I am also part of the Academic Management team, helping to ensure cross-curricular, purposeful learning for students in all grades. Show less

I am proud to be the Co-Founder and Director of Education with Ceiba, an experiential learning program for US high school and gap-year youth operating in beautiful Antigua, Guatemala. As the Director of Education, I am responsible for overall program development, which encompasses project development with our local nonprofit partners, online learning management system coordination, and supervision of Ceiba's Education Mentors. It is an exciting time in a stunning country. Ceiba is an organization very much on the leading trend of 21st-century education - the reflective practice intrinsic in community service, the self-direction of online coursework, authentic cross-cultural interaction, and a foundation in personal and global citizenship contribute to building the skills and competencies that will give Ceiba students a tremendous advantage in today's university and professional competition. In my time at AIS, I taught upper school English and Literature, mentored a first-year English teacher, supported our ESL students, directed the school's first play (we put on Grease!), and designed and directed the community service program for all students in grades five through nine. Included in the design of the community service program was relationship-building and project development with local nonprofit organizations, cross-curricular coordination, and leading a weekly Global Citizenship class that connected students' lives in Guatemala to their national and international peers. • Teacher, High School English and Literature
      • Jul 2010 - Jun 2011

At EBH, a private bilingual school in central Honduras, I enjoyed my experience as the English and Literature teacher to grades seven through ten. During my tenure, I developed and implemented curriculum with attention to differentiated language abilities, skill level, and cultural context. With fellow teachers, I formalized and wrote previously-informal curriculum for high school English and Literature courses, as well as led a High School effort at cross-curricular coordination. In addition, I participated in professional development workshops, classroom management activities, and extracurricular events. Show less

Included in my responsibilities with the Inbound component were district, state, and federal compliance, J1 visa enrollment, Community Coordinator relations, special event programming, and student/host family relationship-building and communication. As the Outbound program manager, I autonomously developed partnerships with international organizations to receive and place students that I recruited from around the US. Essential to the Outbound position was open and clear communication with parents, consistent follow-up with partners, designed and delivered orientation programs, and conscientiously managed the overall student experience.
