Tetra Society is a non-profit organization that helps people with disabilities enjoy quality of life, through custom built assistive devices. As Chapter Coordinator for Peel Region, I receive requests from individuals who may need an assistive device not available to them due to uniqueness of their disability, or due to cost of such a device. Once I have established the need(s) of the client, I assign the project to one of our volunteers, who then become involved with the client in regards to designing and creating the assistive device. I also get involved in the design stage and organize a monthly meeting of the volunteers where bounce ideas off each other, update each other on projects, etc. As Tetra Society is based on volunteers to build devices another aspect of my position is to recruit new volunteers who would like to use their skills and spare time to build assistive devices for disabled people. Another aspect of my job is to inform people, such as therapists, nurses, caregivers etc who work with disabled people as to the existence of Tetra Society and what we do.

I had to retire from the work force due to a Spinal Cord Injury I suffered. I don't know if I will be able to return to a job in the machining/toolmaker field due to limited strength and mobility. I can however continue in a capacity of CNC programming, management or even possibly a Q.C. position on a part time position to start.
