Medair is an international relief and recovery NGO based in Switzerland, whom works in developing countries around the world. In 2013, I completed a contract with them managing a shelter project in Haiti in response to Hurricane Sandy. -Successfully completed the project objective of 200 new homes and and 145 community members trained in Disaster Resistant Construction Techniques. -Completed the project on schedule and under budget after taking over as project manager when it was behind schedule and over budget. -Provided needs assessments, technical support, team leadership, strategic direction, and stakeholder liaising. -Successful management and oversight of of material procurement and spending of $394,000 project budget. -Ensured the project and outputs were implemented in line with donor (USAID) requirements and in accordance with Medair, donor, country, and international standards. This was done through data reporting, and continual oversight of technical design and construction. -Managed project staff, including; delegation and overview of responsibilities; skills and technical training; and and performance appraisals. Sports4HOPE was a US based non-profit organization using sports and peace education as a platform for reconciliation in the Ituri District of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). For one year, I lived and worked on the project on the ground in DRC. My primary responsibility was the development and management of sports projects. -Worked with multiple international organizations and engineering companies to design and beginning work on a soccer pitch in a small village in Vilo, DRC. -Wrote project proposal, budget proposal, and logistical plan for a week-long coaches education course for 30 coaches from 13 different communities in Borgoro, DRC. The proposal was accepted and the program was successfully completed within allotted budget. -Organized, planned, and coached a sitting volleyball team made up of people whom suffer from war-related lower-body disabilities. The season lasted for 8 months and consisted of more than 20 volleyball and peace education sessions. -Developed a network of 30 coaches in 3 different countries and 4 different Congolese ethic groups. -Worked with Sports4HOPE team to develop an integrated sport and peace education program.
