  As a Movement Director in " Operations Control Center" I use computers and radio communications to control the safe movement of trains throughout the Port Authority system. Movement Directors constantly monitor train movement and conditions affecting train movement, taking immediate action when necessary.The "OCC", Movement Directors play an essential role in assisting and implementing various plans and procedures, and in doing so, are required to maintain in continuous communications with frontline personnel. We perform a variety of duties in monitoring, analyzing, controlling and supervising the status of the main line rail operations as well as the rail yard by use of computer- generated displays, display board indications, computer inputs and voice communications.The "OCC" is an extremely dynamic and stressful environment. Thus, Movement Directors are required to maintain control and professionalism at all times in order to successfully carry out assigned procedures and duties, including coordinating assigned activities with other divisions, departments and outside agencies.As Movement Directors in "OCC" I am responsible for the efficient control and operation of the rail transit system. We are required to respond safely and efficiently to incidents, unusual occurrences, train problems, service delays, emergencies and special events.As Movement Directors in "OCC" I monitor the status of various systems and devices related to the rail transit operations, such as : interlockings, Automatic Train Control, traction power electrical systems, ventilation systems and alarms.We coordinate with Road (Rail) Supervisors, road (train) mechanics, maintenance crews, managers and directors.
