Bio
Thomas Burns CPA
When Scott first started at Hearst he was able to take the reigns on a project that I did not complete, building metadata for a new HFM application in xml. Scott designed an alternate solution based on the .app format - it worked great and was able to be used easily and without error. Since that time Scott has taught me how to better utilize .app format of metadata in my own work and has become my first point-of-contact whenever an HFM troubleshooting issue arises. He is a problem solver and in my working with him I've noticed that he is persistent in finding solutions to intricate HFM problems.

Scott is very streamlined in his thinking. Results! Results are of the utmost importance and drive his business decisions. During my time together with him he has made financial reporting as easy as possible. He has a knack for picking out areas where he can make the largest contribution in automation, effectiveness, and efficiency while applying the concept to sites within an organization. I highly recommend Scott as his entrepreneurial thinking is exactly what an organization needs for their productivity and ultimately their bottom line.

Accounting Project Manager & HMI Hyperion Administrator
-
May 2016 - Mar 2019
Responsible for creating business intelligence solutions by combining Oracle products with Microsoft Excel for internal reporting. Played a key role in creating and maintaining customized solutions for data pulls from multiple Hyperion applications as well as different ways to send data to Hyperion. Responsible for reporting individual unit results as well as consolidated reports sent to the executive team for units located around the world. Played a key role in transitioning our legacy GL system to Oracle GL as well as Hyperion to EPBCS Key Accomplishments: • HFM Administration - Developing and maintaining Metadata structures to help with reporting needs while also increasing reporting efficiencies. Metadata management, including data copies, data backups, metadata testing, application setup, and Hyperion rules management. • Project Management - Helped our team to successfully implement and transfer data to our new GL software. This involved transferring millions of data points from prior years, budget, and actuals. I also led teams to move data from Hyperion to EPBCS as well. • Application Design – Designed a customized HFM application for our Russian unit. Setup application from start to finish to run seamlessly with their ERP system. This aided in consolidations of multiple subsidiaries of Russia as well as an efficient way to transfer data over to our Reporting application. Show less

Financial Analyst & Hyperion Administrator

Mar 2014 - May 2016
Responsible for reviewing and validating data input for all plants within AmesburyTruth. Job responsibilities include: forecasting, budgeting, and actual data entry by plant. Helped to bridge the gap between operations and accounting to find true drivers of monthly performance. Charged with implementing metric analysis, increasing data entry efficiency, and improving consistency throughout the organization. Responsible for reporting results on a site-by-site basis as well as consolidated performance reports sent to the executive team. Key Accomplishments: • HFM Administration - Helped to develop an HFM database for the Global Sourcing group to store all materials data such as cost, volumes, and pricing so that data could be pulled historically and for forecast/budget purposes. • Site-wide headcount tracking – Improved headcount reporting efficiencies for HFM data entry for 2,200+ employees. With a process that took hours for each site to enter headcount, hours, FTE’s, etc., this tedious process was reduced to a click of a button for all sites. • Data Mapping: Demonstrated my knowledge of internal systems and HFM by creating a data load for all P&L and Balance Sheet accounts at each of our sites. Sites export their GL to an excel file and that is mapped automatically and submitted directly to HFM. This serves as a temporary bridge for sites until FDME is fully implemented at each site.
