Substation EIT

Currently designing both green and brown field substations. This includes design of One Lines, AC & DC schematics, wiring, general arrangements, and conduit plans. Responsible for ordering material and verifying correct amounts based on a project’s needs. Familiar with transfer trip, blocking schemes, and other blocking & unblocking schemes. Spend time in the field facilitating the build/upgrade and pre-commissioning process. This includes checking all wiring of switches, RTU's, DFR's, CT's & PT's, relays, and trips & closes on breakers. Manage union workers in the field to help create a safe and efficient work place for all.

Laboratory Monitor

Responsible for keeping a clean and safe work environment while helping students with basic computer issues. These issues ranged from simple log in problems to Matlab programming help. Downloading of printer drivers and fixing of some license problems are also a large part of the job. Asking useful and direct questions to address each student’s problem allowed for quick and efficient problem solving. Interpersonal skills were important because the job involved interaction with many students. This job has allowed my interpersonal skills to grow to the next level.

In charge of Grading students work for an Embedded systems(C based) class. Help students with coding issues and general questions about the class and the material. Assist students with labs using Arduino hardware and software. The labs require students to learn how to operate the Arduino hardware to control LED’s and send/receive serial port information.

Engineering Intern

Working with engineers in the power delivery group. Assisting with substation construction and design. This includes but is not limited to protective relaying, substation layout, wiring, and documentation. Have taken part in planning for future work needed on substations given specific parameters. Leaning and implementing the rules and regulations stated by the United State's Department of Agriculture's rural utilities services guidelines. Working with numerous power company's with diverse drawing standards and practices. Continued education using basic engineering principles and practices.
