Beyond the Stone Walls Advisory Collective (BSWAC) comprises of RMIT University's higher education criminal justice students, practitioners, academics and individuals with lived experience within the criminal justice system (CJS). Collaboratively, BSWAC members create innovative solutions to some of those most challenging and complex problems faced by the CJS. These solutions are based on the expert knowledge of students and academics, as well as the experiences of those with histories of criminal justice interaction. Some of the projects delivered by the BSWAC include the 2021 Parliamentary submission to the Victorian Legal and Social Issues Committee, the Department of Justice and Community Safety’s cultural review of prisons and corrections, and the Wyndham Law Courts Project of Court Services Victoria.
